City of St. Peters: backflow testing rules

Who must test
- An approved RPZ device must be installed on all lawn irrigation and sprinkler systems and on fire systems with chemical additives; an RPZ or double check is required on other fire protection systems. Source.
- An approved backflow device is required on all potable service lines entering retail, commercial and industrial facilities, including schools, churches and hospitals. Source.
Notices and deadlines
- Double check and reduced pressure assemblies must be tested at installation and annually by June 1, and overhauled at least every five years. Source.
How the report is filed
- The DNR certified tester must submit test reports for each device within 30 days of the test and no later than June 1, on a Missouri DNR approved form, fully completed, signed and dated. Source.
Tester registration
- Inspections, tests and overhauls are at the customer's expense and must be done by a State of Missouri certified backflow prevention device tester. Source.
Fees
- A $30 late fee per device is charged to the water bill for any test report not received by June 1. Source.
If a test is missed
- Service is disconnected if a test report is not received within 60 days of the June 1 date, until reports are received and fees paid; test failures must be corrected within 10 working days. Source.
- Inspection and testing failures must be corrected within ten working days or water service is disconnected until fixed. Source.
