Corrections
Your water utility relies on the tester's certificate being real and current. When a certificate fact, a utility rule or a price here is wrong, we fix it and date the fix.
How to report an error
Email editor@backflownear.com with the page address and what is wrong. Testers: include your certificate number and the state or utility that issued it. You do not need to be a customer, and a business never has to pay or advertise to get its page corrected.
How fast we fix it
When we confirm an error, the fix is live on the site within one business day and is added to the log below with its date. If we cannot confirm it, we tell you what we checked.
What we can change, and what we cannot
We fix:
- A tester count, certificate number or expiry date that differs from the state roster or utility list we cite.
- A business's phone, website, address or services, once the business or its Google profile confirms the change.
- A utility rule, test deadline or price that differs from the page we cite, and links that no longer work.
We cannot change:
- A tester's certification itself. The state program or the utility keeps that record; our next read of its list picks up the change.
- Ratings and review counts. They come from the business’s Google profile.
Log of corrections and updates
A correction means we had something wrong. An update means the source changed or moved. Design and speed changes are not listed.
- October 11, 2026 Update
36 official links fixed after their agencies moved the pages (Maryland COMAR, Ohio EPA rules, Utah drinking water, Idaho and Wyoming rules, a Colorado bill, Florence SC, Miami-Dade, WaterOne, Santa Ana and others). The 210 quotes on them were checked again. Indiana's tester certification page was replaced by its new page, and Logan City's tester list link now opens the real file. - October 11, 2026 Correction
Service labels taken from business websites now show only services the business's own site offers. A sample check found 90 of 100 labels right before the change (fire sprinkler wording read as irrigation work, lists of devices that need a backflow test, and customer reviews). A fresh sample after the change found 99 of 100 right. - October 7, 2026 Correction
Two listings were past their tester certificate expiry but still showed a check mark. The one expired more than 60 days came off the site; the other now shows its expiry date and no check mark. Every listing now shows an expired certificate the same way.
