Who must test

  • Facilities that ordinarily need a reduced pressure assembly or air gap include irrigation and lawn sprinkler systems, fire systems with chemical additives, medical facilities, car washes and commercial pools, among others. Source.
  • Tall buildings, hotels, restaurants and fire sprinkler systems without chemicals ordinarily need at least a double check assembly or an air gap. Source.

How the report is filed

  • Benton Utilities Water and Sewer Department must review and sign off on all proposed backflow prevention installations. Source.

Program

  • Benton Utilities' 2015 Water and Sewer Specifications (section 1.8, Backflow Prevention) require the water system to be protected by an RPZ, a double check assembly or an air gap under the Arkansas State Plumbing Code. Source.
