Colorado Springs Utilities: backflow testing rules

Who must test

• State and local rules require businesses and multi-family dwellings to have backflow assemblies; businesses must have them installed and tested annually by licensed testers. Source.

Notices and deadlines

• Commercial and multifamily irrigation assemblies must be tested and submitted each year by July 1; domestic and fire suppression assemblies by October 1. Source.
• Inside use (domestic) and fire suppression assemblies must be tested and results submitted each year by October 1. Source.

How the report is filed

• Colorado Springs Utilities uses SwiftComply for online test submission; all tests must go through SwiftComply, with exceptions by email to crossconnection@csu.org. Source.
• Test results should be entered within five days of testing. Source.

Tester registration

• Testers must register for a SwiftComply Backflow account before testing and upload a current ABPA or ASSE certification and current test kit information. Source.

Fees

If a test is missed
