Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB): backflow test rules

  • Who must test. The state of Oregon and EWEB require the installation and annual testing of all backflow prevention assemblies. Source.
  • Notices and deadlines. Customers may receive an annual testing reminder letter. Residential customers can enroll in the Good as Gold Program and designate a yearly tester, so reminders go to the tester and the assembly is placed in the tester's work queue each year. Source.
  • How the report is filed. New assemblies must be tested on installation by a State of Oregon certified backflow assembly tester, who must submit results to EWEB within 10 days of the test. Source.
  • Tester registration. EWEB posts a Backflow Database Agreement and Addendum for use by backflow testers only (linked file is titled Online Backflow Database Use Agreement), indicating testers enter results in an EWEB online database. Source.
  • Fees. Commercial customers can sign up for EWEB-facilitated testing; a state-certified contractor is assigned and the testing fee is added to the EWEB bill after results are received. Residential Good as Gold customers pay the tester directly. No dollar amount is stated. Source.
