Springfield Utility Board: backflow test rules

  • Who must test. Homes with irrigation sprinklers, booster pumps, boilers, geothermal heating, or medical equipment need assemblies; commercial, industrial, public, and multifamily (more than 4 units) users must also comply. Source.
  • Notices and deadlines. SUB Water Division sends letters notifying customers of their duty to test, and the assembly must be tested by a state-certified tester by the date in the letter. Source.
  • How the report is filed. The tester returns the original signed test report to SUB Water Division by mail or by email of a high-quality scan within 10 calendar days of the test date, and gives the customer proof of submission. No portal is named. Source.
  • Tester registration. Testers must be OHA certified; testers approved to work within Springfield follow both the OARs and SUB's Cross-Connection Control Program Standards, and adhere to SUB's Certified Backflow Assembly Tester Code of Conduct. Source.
  • Approved testers. SUB maintains and links a Certified Backflow Testers List. Format PDF. Source.
