Who must test

  • All backflow assemblies protecting the Water Authority of Dickson County must be tested every 12 months, more often where the hazard is great. Source.

Tester registration

  • All assemblies must be tested by a tester holding a valid Tennessee Certificate of Competency in testing and evaluating backflow prevention assemblies. Source.
  • All tests must use an annually certified test kit; WADC will not accept tests from a tester whose test kit certification has expired. Source.
  • Work on backflow assemblies in fire protection systems must be done by persons holding a fire sprinkler contractor license, with current certification on file with the Cross-Connection Control Manager before installation or testing. Source.

If a test is missed

  • Any assembly not tested within the 12 month period is deemed not approved with a status of Failed, and the customer is notified it is out of compliance. Source.
  • After a failed test or installation problem, customers get up to 90 calendar days for High and Low Hazard and 14 days for High Risk High Hazard to fix it; service can be discontinued and restored only with a passing test and a reconnection fee. Source.

  • Are you registered with Water Authority of Dickson County?
  • Will you send the test report to the utility for me, and how?
  • When is my report due? The date is on your notice; the tester needs time to test, repair if needed and file.
