West Jordan City Water: backflow testing rules

Serves West Jordan, UT. Every point below comes from West Jordan City Water's own pages, linked; check your notice for your own deadline.

Who must test

  • In its 2026 water quality report, West Jordan says landscape sprinkling systems connected to the public drinking water system must have an approved backflow prevention assembly that is tested every year. Source.
  • Residents are told to install a hose bib vacuum breaker on each threaded hose bib. Source.
  • Under the city's landscape and irrigation design standards, a reduced pressure assembly (RP) is the only accepted backflow device type. Source.

Notices and deadlines

  • For park strips, parks and trails built for or dedicated to the city, each backflow device must be tested within ten days of installation and at least once a year by a State of Utah licensed backflow technician, with a copy of the report going to the Parks Division. Source.

If a test is missed

  • All construction water must be metered through a city-issued meter with an approved backflow device, and violations are subject to the municipal code penalties. Source.
