City of Beaverton: backflow testing rules

Who must test

• Backflow prevention assemblies must be tested at installation, when repaired or moved, after any backflow incident, and at least annually thereafter, by a State-certified Backflow Tester. Source.
• Customers with an auxiliary water supply such as a well, cistern, or body of water on site must have premises isolation backflow protection; a reduced pressure assembly is required even if the auxiliary source is only used for irrigation. Source.
• Residences connecting to the Beaverton Purple Pipe non-potable system must have a reduced pressure backflow assembly; RPBAs will be required for all residences in South Cooper Mountain. Source.

How the report is filed

• Test results must be provided to the Beaverton Public Works Department within ten working days of the test, based on State of Oregon rules (City of Beaverton Engineering Design Manual, Chapter 6, section 690.5). No portal is named. Source.
• Test reports for double check detector assemblies (DCDA) and reduced pressure detector assemblies (RPDA) must include the detector meter reading. Source.

Tester registration

• Testing must be performed by Oregon Health Authority Certified Backflow Assembly Testers, found on OHA's List of Backflow Testers. No separate city registration is stated. Source.
