Who must test

  • Scottsdale's Cross-connection Control Program requires approved assemblies on all plumbing systems per city codes; commercial customers must have assemblies inspected annually and are notified by mail when due. Source.

Notices and deadlines

  • All test reports are due to the Cross-Connection Control Program within seven days for any type of work or certification, per Ordinance 49-65. Source.
  • The Water Quality Division notifies customers when assemblies are due, and testing should not be done outside the yearly schedule. Source.

How the report is filed

  • Test reports use the City of Scottsdale Approved Tester Form and are emailed to backflowtesting@scottsdaleaz.gov or mailed to City of Scottsdale Cross-Connection Control Program, PO Box 25089, Scottsdale, AZ 85255. Source.

Tester registration

  • Testers apply for Backflow Testing Recognition with copies of tester certification (ADEQ recognized), business insurance, Arizona ROC contractor licence, gauge calibrations, and a Scottsdale business licence if located in Scottsdale. Source.
  • All test gauges must be calibrated at least once a year by a recognized laboratory, and the calibration report is forwarded to Water Quality. Source.

If a test is missed

  • Testers who do not follow the requirements may be removed from the Backflow Tester List and have testing in Scottsdale suspended. Source.
