BackflowNear Test-Due Reminder

Clayton County Water Authority: backflow testing rules

Serves Clayton County, GA. Every point below comes from Clayton County Water Authority's own pages, linked; check your notice for your own deadline.

Who must test

  • Unlike most Georgia utilities, CCWA's State Certified Backflow Specialists test and repair all backflow devices each year, so customers do not hire their own tester. That is about 5,000 commercial and industrial devices a year. Source.

Notices and deadlines

  • CCWA tests each device once a year on a schedule built around its meter reading cycles. Source.

Fees

  • Non-residential accounts pay a monthly backflow fee per service connection, effective July 1, 2012: $10 for 5/8 and 3/4 inch meters, $15 for 1 and 1.5 inch, $20 for 2 inch and larger. Source.
  • The largest meter tier, 2 inch and up, pays $20 a month to cover testing and repairs. Source.

Program

  • CCWA's Backflow Prevention program put backflow devices at all customer connections, installed by its own staff. Source.

Finding a tester Clayton County Water Authority accepts

We found no tester list on Clayton County Water Authority's own pages. Use a state certified tester, and check your notice in case it names the testers or the portal it accepts.

Before you book, ask the tester:

  • Are you registered with Clayton County Water Authority?
  • Will you send the test report to the utility for me, and how?
  • When is my report due? The date is on your notice; the tester needs time to test, repair if needed and file.
