Cobb County Water System: backflow testing rules

Who must test
- All non-residential customers must install a testable backflow assembly on every water service connection, unless the director approves an exception. Source.
- All home irrigation systems connected to the public water supply must have a passing backflow assembly installed and maintained. Source.
- All installed assemblies must be tested every year by a licensed tester registered with Cobb County, and after every installation, repair and replacement. Source.
- For homes, the Water System installs and periodically replaces the residential dual check valve at the meter, usually every 10 to 15 years with the meter. Source.
How the report is filed
- Cobb County uses SwiftComply for all test report entries, and every testing company must register through the portal to submit reports; registration takes about 48 hours. Source.
