City of Concord Water Resources: backflow testing rules

City of Concord Water Resources at a glance

When the test is due

Customers must test, maintain and repair each required assembly. Tests are due right after installation and then annually or semiannually depending on the degree of hazard. Source.

How the report is filed

Concord does not accept backflow test reports by fax, mail or hand delivery; reports are filed electronically. Source.

Approved testers

City of Concord Water Resources posts a list of testers it accepts on concordnc.gov. Open the list.

Who must test

• The city ordinance requires every single family residential irrigation customer to have an approved backflow assembly installed and tested. Commercial and industrial customers have been covered since 1994. Source.

Notices and deadlines

• The city's System Protection Superintendent inspects for irrigation systems and sends the owner a letter, and the property owner is responsible for getting the device tested on time. Source.

Tester registration

• Testers register online with the Backflow Office and upload their tester certification and test kit calibration, and approved testers are added to the city list automatically. Source.

Approved testers

• Concord keeps an Approved Backflow Testers List, which customers can request by email through the program page, concordnc.gov. Source.

From notice to filed report, the steps are the same everywhere: how a backflow test goes.
