BackflowNear Test-Due Reminder

City of Florence: backflow testing rules

Serves Florence, SC. Every point below comes from City of Florence's own pages, linked; check your notice for your own deadline.

Who must test

  • The City keeps a master list of accounts that require backflow devices; those customers must have the device tested annually by an SCDES certified backflow tester. Source.
  • Single family residences may have a non-testable residential dual check, which the City installs on the meter assembly and replaces periodically. Source.

How the report is filed

  • The City offers a recommended BFP test form but does not require a particular format, as long as all the information on the form is provided. Source.

Tester registration

  • SCDES certified testers not on the City list can be added by contacting 843-665-3236 or backflow@cityofflorencesc.gov. Source.

Approved testers

  • The City maintains a list of SCDES certified testers in its area, updated from the statewide SCDES database; testers not on it can ask to be added. Source.

Program

  • The City runs the state mandated Cross Connection Control and Backflow Prevention program. Source.
