When the test is due

Residential irrigation assemblies that do not apply chemicals, with a passing test submitted on or after Sept. 1, 2024, move to a three year cycle under NC Senate Bill 166. All other assemblies are tested every year. Source.

How the report is filed

Approved testing companies send every test report to BSI Online; new installations are submitted directly in the BSI portal. Source.

If a test is missed

Any assembly that fails must be repaired or replaced at the owner's expense, and new or replaced assemblies need a passing initial test report. Source.

Notices and deadlines

• BSI Online sends notification letters to customers with backflow assemblies 30 days before each test is due. The letter shows a Worth, Illinois return address and a Customer Confirmation Number. Source.

• Test reports are accepted only from testing companies approved by WSFC Utilities. Companies apply with an application, each tester's certification and test kit calibrations, then register with BSI Online. Source.
